Ama Odia Parivar means “our Odia family”. We are a community-driven, registered charitable society, founded in Airoli, Navi Mumbai, for Odia families living across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Kalyan.
We began in 2012 as a simple get-together of a few Odia families, far from home and glad of one another’s company. Word spread, more families came, and in 2014 we registered formally as a charitable society. What started around a handful of homes now brings together more than 900 members and connects over 45 Odia organisations across the region.
Unity • Culture • Compassion • Service
Our vision
One Family, One Mission. To keep Odia culture and language alive in the city where we have made our home, and to see that nobody in our community faces hardship on their own.
What we do
Our work runs along seven lines, each one started because somebody in the community needed it.
- Child welfare and healthcare. Through our Child Cancer Foundation we stand beside families whose children are under treatment — because no child should fight cancer alone.
- Education. School fees, books and uniforms for children who would otherwise have to stop studying.
- Community service. Regular blood donation camps, and help for families facing a sudden crisis.
- Environment. Plantation drives, run by members and their children together.
- Health and wellness. Free Yoga sessions, open to everyone.
- Senior citizen engagement. Badminton and regular meets, so that our elders have somewhere to go and people to go with.
- Culture and heritage. The festivals that keep the language and the customs alive for children growing up far from Odisha.
Our strength
- More than 900 members.
- Over 45 Odia organisations connected through us.
- A reach of more than 15 lakh people across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Kalyan.
The figures matter less than what stands behind them: volunteers who give up a Sunday, families who send what they can, and members who have put their names down to give blood when it is needed.
Looking ahead
We would rather widen what we already do than start something new every year: more children supported through treatment and through school, more Odia-owned businesses listed and found, more women running businesses of their own through Swabhimaani, and a stronger network among the Odia organisations of this region. If you are Odia and you live here, there is a place for you in it.
A word from our President
To confirm. A 150-word personal message from the President, with a photograph and signature. This costs one afternoon and does more for trust than anything else on this page — a named person saying why the Society exists, in their own words.
Our committee
The Society is run by an elected committee of volunteers. Office bearers and executive members are listed publicly, along with their tenure.
Registration and legal status
Ama Odia Parivar Social & Charitable Society is a registered charitable society.
To confirm. Registration number, date and registering authority go here, as text so search engines can read them. If the Society holds 12A or 80G certificates, say so here and link to the documents — it is what converts a first-time donor. Do not claim a certificate the Society does not hold.
Get in touch
Whether you want to join, volunteer, list a business or ask about our work, we would like to hear from you.
