Terms of Use

These terms are a plain-English starting point drafted for this website. They are not legal advice and should be reviewed by a qualified advisor before the Society relies on them.

1. About these terms

This website is run by Ama Odia Parivar Social & Charitable Society for the Odia community in Mumbai and Thane. By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

We may update these terms. The version on this page is the one that applies, and the date at the foot tells you when it last changed.

2. Using this website

You may read, share and link to anything we publish here. Please use the site lawfully and considerately. In particular, do not:

  • Harvest, scrape or bulk-copy contact details from the business directory, whether by hand or by any automated means
  • Use anything from this site to send unsolicited marketing, calls or messages
  • Submit false, misleading or impersonating information
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its accounts or its server
  • Upload anything that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or that infringes someone else’s rights
  • Disrupt the site or the experience of other users

We may remove content, decline a submission, or block access where these terms are broken. We will normally explain why.

3. The business directory

Listings are submitted by their owners, not written by us. A volunteer checks each one for obvious problems and may telephone to confirm the number is genuine. That is a sanity check, not an endorsement, a verification of quality, or a guarantee that the business is licensed, insured, competent or honest.

The Society does not vet, recommend, endorse or stand behind any listed business. We are not a party to anything you agree with them. Prices, availability, hours and qualifications shown in a listing are supplied by the business and may be out of date.

Please use your own judgement. Check credentials, agree terms in writing, and be careful with advance payments. Any contract, payment or dispute is between you and the business alone. We accept no liability for a transaction arranged through the directory.

If a listing is inaccurate, misleading or has been placed without the business owner’s authority, please tell us and we will look into it and remove it if appropriate.

4. Submitting a listing

By submitting a business you confirm that you own it or are authorised to act for it, that the details are accurate, and that you agree to the contact details being published exactly as described in our Privacy Policy — publicly, and readable by anyone.

Nothing is published automatically. Every submission is reviewed and we may decline it, edit it for clarity or consistency, or remove it later without notice if it turns out to be inaccurate or unsuitable. Listing in the directory is a free community service and confers no right to remain listed.

You keep ownership of what you submit. By submitting it you give the Society permission to publish, display, adapt for formatting and distribute it on this website and in Society communications, for as long as the listing is live. You can ask us to remove it at any time.

5. Membership

Membership is open to adults of 18 and over. Applying does not make you a member: the Society reviews each application and may accept or decline it. A member identification number is issued only on acceptance.

Members are expected to act in keeping with the Society’s aims and to treat other members and volunteers with respect. The Society may suspend or cancel a membership for serious or repeated breach, in line with its governing rules.

To confirm. Membership fee, the period it covers, and how renewal works — or confirm that membership is free. Also confirm which of the Society’s rules govern suspension and cancellation.

6. Events and activities

Details of events may change. Where an event involves physical activity, travel, food, or activities for children, you take part at your own risk and remain responsible for your own safety and for any child in your care. Blood donation, medical camps and similar activities are run with qualified partners, and their professional judgement governs eligibility on the day.

7. Donations and payments

The Society does not currently accept payments through this website. When it does, our Refund Policy will apply, and tax exemption will only be claimed once the relevant registrations are in place and stated on the site.

8. Our content

Except for material submitted by others, the text, design and images on this site belong to the Society or are used with permission. You may quote or share them with credit for non-commercial community purposes. Please ask before reproducing anything commercially, and do not use the Society’s name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you.

If you believe something here infringes your copyright, write to us with the details and we will act promptly.

9. Availability, and what we are not responsible for

We run this site on modest shared hosting as a volunteer effort. We do not promise it will always be available, error-free, or up to date, and we may change or withdraw any part of it.

To the extent the law allows, the Society, its office bearers and its volunteers are not liable for any loss arising from your use of this site, from information published on it, or from any dealing with a listed business. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.

10. Links to other websites

Where we link elsewhere — including a listed business’s website, a map, or a messaging service — we do not control that site and are not responsible for its content or its privacy practices.

11. Your privacy

How we handle personal data is set out separately in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Mumbai, Maharashtra have exclusive jurisdiction.

13. Contact

Questions about these terms, or a complaint about anything on this site, can be sent through our contact page.

To confirm. Registered name as on the society certificate, registration number, registered address, contact email and phone.
